Currently offering Telehealth or In home lactation consultations in Boston and the surrounding areas.

Professional scale use during consults available for clients living in Arlington, Cambridge, Somerville, Boston, Brookline, Watertown, Belmont, Everett, Chelsea, Medford, Newton

Please contact Mary Ellen if you have questions about your location.

Visit fees are due at the time of the visit.  I accept cash or Venmo, check, or credit card, FSA/HSA payments, and provide you with a receipt with diagnosis codes suitable for submission to your insurance company for reimbursement.    I work with a biller in Massachusetts who is able to submit your claim to insurance on your behalf at no additional cost to you.  That is not to guarantee reimbursement, but if you choose, she will submit the claim, and then the insurer processes the claim and sends you a reimbursement check generally in 4-6 weeks.

Lactation consulting services are a covered service under the ACA without deductibles or copays.  That said, insurance companies are each handling it differently, some are complying with the ACA, some are not. Massachusetts companies such as Blue Cross, Harvard Pilgrim, Tufts, Allways, and Aetna, have been fully reimbursing families without problems, generally speaking.

Once you book an appointment, I do ask for 24 hr. notice for any cancellation, or I assess a cancellation fee of $150, (barring extenuating circumstances, of course, like illness, or family emergency).

I would send you an intake form ahead of a scheduled visit so as to best understand your concerns and history to this point.  Thank you in advance for taking the time to fill this out as best as you are able.

Generally the sooner one addresses breastfeeding challenges, the more quickly they resolve.

Wishing you all the best in your breastfeeding journey,

Mary Ellen

Note: When scheduling a visit, the breastfeeding parent is considered the main client. Please do not add partners as clients, as it confuses the record-keeping.
